Periimplantitis - Implant Inflammation

It is possible to treat inflammation in the surrounding tissues of the implant. Treatment varies according to the amount of tissue loss that has occurred. In some cases, cleaning the gums and bone tissue directly with laser without opening at all may be sufficient for the treatment, while in some cases, the gum tissue can be opened with a small laser intervention and can be cleaned with no other tools and new bone formation can be achieved. In this treatment, it will be especially appropriate to use an ER: YAG hard tissue laser.

Is periimplantitis treatable ?

There are different methods of treating periimplantitis. The main purpose of this procedure is to remove unwanted infected tissues that have formed around the implant and, if necessary, to prolong the life of the implant by creating new supporting bone tissue. The most successful method known for the treatment of periimplantitis is Erbium:Yag Laser ( laser ) systems.

With this type of laser, also known as a hard tissue laser, it may be possible to clean the skin tissues in the best way and selectively, but more importantly, it is the best known way to clean the implant surface completely from bacteria (Decontamination ) without damaging the implant, without posing a long-term risk to the implant. However, if these conditions are provided correctly, tissue damage around the implant ( periimplantitis ) can be treated by not damaging the bone.
